Meeting at the hotel, we are leaving Baku for Guba (short break on the road – 15 min.)
Arrival in Khinaliq, before the lunch we spend time exploring this highest settlement in Azerbaijan surrounded by breathtaking views of Caucasus Mountains. The hypnotic views and the main attraction is meeting Khınalıq’s hardy shepherd folk who have their own language (Ketsh) and still live much of their lives on horseback.
Bring warm clothes – nights can be icy cold.
Khinaliq is Azerbaijan’s highest mountain village, approximately 2300 meters above sea level. Khinalig is in a stunning location not far from Shahdag, Azerbaijan’s highest peak, in the southeast ridge of the Caucasus Mountains. It has an ethnically distinct population with their own unique language, habits, and culture.
Entry at Shahdag National Park. Continue Khinaliq – Shahyaylak way.
Drive to Shahyaylak by 4X4 vehicles, arrival and set up camp at an altitude of about 3100 m.

*Trekking to the summit is not very difficult; does not require technical climbing routes, we’re hiking close to 6 hours.
Mount Shahdagh is a mountain peak of the Greater Caucasus range, located in Qusar rayon of Azerbaijan, close to the border with Russia. The elevation of the peak is 4,243 meters above the sea level Prehistoric cave dwellings have been discovered at the base of the mountain indicating habitation for over 9,000 years.
Ascent time 6-7 hours.
The descent time 4 hours.
Disassembling the camp.
Return to Baku.
